The Water Resources Coalition is an organization of groups representing private industry and government who are committed to ensuring that a comprehensive, national water resources policy is developed, implemented, and funded to provide a sustainable, productive economy; a healthy aquatic ecology; and public health and safety.
The Water Resources Coalition is pleased to see that the Congress is taking the steps necessary to pass a WRDA bill this year and looks forward to working with the Committee to see the bill through until passage. The American Society of Civil Engineer's (ASCE) 2013 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure graded the nation’s ports a “C”, inland waterways a “D-”, dams a “D”, and levees a “D-”. Our nation’s water resources are critical to our economy, our infrastructure, public safety, and the preservation and enhancement of our environmental resources. In fact, ASCE’s Failure to Act economic study on the nation’s marine ports and inland waterways shows that underinvesting in just these two sectors threatens more than 1 million U.S. jobs and $270 billion in U.S exports by 2020. A WRDA bill that fosters economic growth and job creation through policies that strengthen U.S. infrastructure will allow the nation to remain competitive in the Twenty-First Century.
